Winner, 2005 Richard Rodgers Award
Based on “Cornhuskers,” poet Carl Sandburg’s 1918 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Bringers (formerly Dust and Dreams) tells the story of two brothers in the Midwest, following their lives from childhood through old age. Set in the early 20th century the story is told through the Richard Rodgers award-winning songs that were inspired by Carl Sandburg’s poetic, yet lyrical words. The songs reflect Sandburg’s celebration of the grace and profundity of ordinary lives.
Bringers is touching but not sentimental, profound but not pretentious. Audiences find it both deeply moving and thoroughly entertaining.
