Set in the present, Bing! derives its inspiration from Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. With economic uncertainty looming, the glorious orchards, a part of the Christiansen family farm for generations are in danger of falling to a developer’s bulldozer. Selling them to make way for condominiums could end so many of their worries, but would also destroy their cherished way of life. Now living far away in the city, Ruby Christiansen and her daughter Anna must journey back to their old homestead to confront the realities of a financial crisis, the past they both ran to escape, relationships left unfinished and a future that now seems far from certain.
